Location: 1 Medical Center Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27157. Facility: 885 licensed beds; Level 1 Trauma Designation; Teaching Hospital (Academic Medical Center). Chest Pain Center. Stroke Center. Census: 34; Average patients per day: 34.
Unit Information
Beds: 40-bed unit
Telemetry monitoring: Centralized telemetry unit
Technology/Equipment: EMR – Epic; IV Pump – Alaris; Monitors – Philips; Lift equipment
Orientation (facility and unit): NEO; 2 days departmental
Parking: Free, on site
Staffing and Roles
RN to verify strips q shift
RN ratio: 1:4-5, acuity dependent
CNA ratio: 1:9-12
Support within the Department: CNA (collect vitals, heights/weights, help with ADLs); Receptionist/HUC (7am-11pm daily); Charge nurse (designated charges on dayshift; fill in charge on nights); Phlebotomy (rounds at certain times each shift)
RT 24/7: Yes (via phone or secure chat)
Hospitalist 24/7: Yes
Intensivist 24/7: N/A
Telemetry monitoring/tech: Centralized telemetry unit
Qualifications
Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year – open to Med/Tele; Oncology preferred
Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes, with 1 year of experience
Required Licensure & Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
ONS preferred; OCN certification preferred
Skills required: Port access, blood product administration, electrolyte mgmt., EOL care, pain/symptom mgmt., PIV starts, cardiac rhythm interpretation
