Qualifications Include
ISBE Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in Speech/Language Therapy Master’s Degree from accredited university ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred. Knowledgeable about language acquisition. Flexible, excellent interpersonal communication skills, a positive attitude, to promote the speech and language needs of students.
Position Responsibilities:
Providing high quality direct speech-language therapy services to students according to students’ IEPs, 504 plans or other intervention plans. Conducting assessments, analyzing results, and writing reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas such as speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, and language. Ensuring evaluations, treatment plans and service delivery are aligned with school district policies as well as state and federal guidelines. Participating in the Problem Solving Process through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders. Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies and accommodations. Ensuring students’ skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and other related service providers. Completing treatment notes and progress reports in timely manner in accordance to school policy. Documenting all aspects of work with students according to school and state guidelines. Maintaining appropriate, confidential, records and provide timely reports of progress, consistent with legal mandates and district policy. Keeping abreast of best practices in speech and language therapy and language development and implementing best practices in compliance with district policy, Federal Laws, and State Regulations. Participating in the collaborative process with speech/language therapist colleagues through participation in regularly scheduled Speech/Language Pathologist meetings. Engaging parents and families in their student's learning. Contributing productively to the school as a whole. Other duties as assigned
