Golden Nugget Las Vegas . Overview It is the responsibility of the Biologist to be aware of all aspects of the Life Sciences Department. This includes maintaining all department protocols, adhering to policies, and fulfilling daily responsibilities concerning the care and maintenance of the animal collection. The position requires a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s core values (K.E.E.P. - Kindness, Engagement, Empathy, and Positivity). Golden Nugget is a hotel/casino located in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, featuring a 200,000-gallon shark tank, a 75,000-gallon artificial reef aquarium, and a 17,000-gallon holding exhibit. It is part of Landry’s Restaurants, which operate four other major aquariums nationwide. The facility is American Humane Conservation certified and actively participates in conservation programs focused on daily animal welfare. We house over 80 different species from around the world. Responsibilities Perform daily routine tasks as scheduled. Maintain accurate daily animal records in ZIMS Species 360. Prepare daily diets and nutritional plans for the animal collection. Conduct daily water quality testing of all exhibits using a HACH DR6000. Perform minor maintenance on Life Support Systems as needed. Assist the Director and Curatorial staff with medical treatments and husbandry procedures. Communication Interact respectfully and helpfully with guests. Participate in public presentations, with or without animals. Report animal-related or other concerns to the Curator or Life Sciences Manager. Engage with dignitaries, professionals, VIPs, or tour groups as directed. Department Management Help maintain department areas and assist with cleanliness and safety. Report supply needs to the Director or Curatorial staff. Ensure exhibits are ready for daily opening. Conduct regular rounds to evaluate safety and cleanliness of work areas. Qualifications Ability to SCUBA dive daily and complete a diving assessment on-site after hire. Must be medically cleared for SCUBA diving. Ability to work in a fast-paced, structured environment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and produce quality results consistently. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field preferred. 1-2 years of experience working in a public aquarium with teleost and/or elasmobranch species preferred. Must be SCUBA certified with at least 20 logged hours; advanced certifications are a plus. Must hold CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen Administration certifications or obtain them within two weeks of hire. Seniority level
