Biologist
Full‑time position at The Aquarium in Kemah, Texas, supporting the Life Sciences Department.

Responsibilities
Animal husbandry for freshwater and marine fishes, elasmobranchs, invertebrates, reptiles, and amphibians
Perform scheduled daily routines
Maintain accurate daily animal records in ZIMS Species 360
Prepare daily diet and nutritional needs
Conduct daily water quality testing of all exhibits and water features
Execute minor life support system maintenance
Assist curatorial staff with medical treatments and husbandry procedures
Provide helpful and respectful guest interactions
Participate in public presentations
Communicate animal‑related concerns to Curators
Interact with dignitaries, professionals, guests, VIPs, students, and tour groups
Maintain department areas, report supply needs, assure exhibit readiness, inspect cleanliness, welfare, and safety
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology or related field.
1–2 years experience in a public or AZA‑accredited aquarium (preferred).
Knowledge of life support systems, animal husbandry, disease prevention, treatment, and rearing techniques.
Experience with corals a plus.
Ability to complete onsite diving assessment and SCUBA dive daily; advanced certifications a plus.
Medical clearance for SCUBA upon hire.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, administrative, multi‑tasking, organization, and prioritization skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; fluent English.
Efficient, independent, consistent, delivering quality results.
Valid driver’s license.
Availability for variable schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
