Overview
The Division of Medical Genetics at McGovern Medical School, University of Texas Medical School at Houston (UTHealth Houston), is seeking a highly motivated, full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our research team in Houston, TX. Our lab is dedicated to uncovering the mechanistic links between mutant genes and vascular diseases—including aortic dissections, thoracic aortic aneurysms, early onset coronary artery disease, and large artery cerebrovascular disease—using advanced cell culture techniques, iPSCs, and mouse models. This is a collaborative and productive environment alongside a multidisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, and trainees. Responsibilities
Conduct biomedical research in one or more of the following areas: genetics, cell and molecular biology, iPSCs, and/or animal models of disease. Assist in training and mentoring lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees. Read and evaluate scientific literature. Collaborate and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels. Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Education
Doctoral/Terminal Degree Position Summary
A biomedical postdoc position provides an opportunity for early-career researchers to gain valuable experience, develop independent research skills, and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in their field of expertise. Position Key Accountabilities
Biomedical research and expertise in genetics, cell and molecular biology, iPSCs, and/or animal models of disease. Mentor and train lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees. Literature review and evaluation. Strong collaboration and interpersonal communication. Excellent written and oral communication. Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently to move objects. Residency Requirement
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas. Benefits
