Job Description Paramedics demonstrate competency in trauma and medical situations and possess the knowledge and necessary skills to provide lifesaving interventions in an occupational medicine clinic setting. They administer emergency care and treatment, determine the nature and extent of illness or injury, and establish priority for required care.
The Paramedic is responsible for utilizing the paramedic process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized care to patients. Responsible for the coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other paramedic interventions.
Collaborates with inter‑professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of paramedic expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting. Functions within the scopes and standards of paramedic practice as outlined in state of practice and licensure.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree in Paramedic Technology or Paramedicine preferred.
Thorough knowledge of paramedic principles, practices and techniques, and knowledge of how various equipment (e.g., monitor, defibrillator) works and how to troubleshoot problems that may arise.
Hold national registry status at a Paramedic level. Additional training provided/workshops and staff meetings are to be attended as per policy.
May need state license; additional licensures as required depending on state (Paramedic (PAR) Certification, NIMS Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, and 800 completed and continued education hours as mandated by accreditation).
Current BLS, PHTLS or equivalent, advanced paramedic version, ITLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP preferred depending on location.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
