Job Summary
What is Occupational Medicine?
Occupational Medicine is a specialized department that focuses on the health and safety of workers. We work to prevent and treat work-related injuries and illnesses, ensuring that workplaces are safe and healthy environments. We help keep employees healthy and productive, while also ensuring that employers comply with health and safety regulations. Paramedics demonstrate competency in trauma and medical situations and possess the knowledge and the necessary skills to provide lifesaving interventions in a occupational medicine clinic setting. Administer emergency care and treatment and determine the nature and extent of illness or injury and establish priority for required care.
The Paramedic is responsible for utilizing the paramedic process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized care to patients. Responsible for the coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other paramedic interventions. Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of paramedic expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting. Functions within the scopes and standards of paramedic practice as outlined in state of practice and licensure.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree in Paramedic Technology or Paramedicine preferred.
Thorough knowledge of paramedic principles, practices and techniques; knowledge of equipment such as monitors/defibrillators and troubleshooting.
National registry status at a Paramedic level. Additional training/workshops and staff meetings as per policy.
State licensure as required; Minnesota may accept Advanced RN-EMT certification. Additional licensures as required by state; Paramedic (PAR) Certification, NIMS ICS 100/200/700/800 completed and continuing education as mandated.
Current BLS, PHTLS or equivalent, ITLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred depending on location.
Valid Driver's License and good driving record.
