County of Ventura . This recruitment opportunity involves two distinct classification series, each with unique roles and responsibilities within the Ventura County Behavioral Health (VCBH) system. Responsibilities
Behavioral Health Clinician I/II
and
Intensive Services Clinician I/II
series – under immediate (I, II), general supervision (III), or general direction (IV): Provide clinical or administrative behavioral health services in diverse, multidisciplinary settings through therapy, case management, interagency collaboration, and community organization. Deliver crisis intervention and stabilization services as part of 24/7 crisis response, telephonically and in person, in clinical and non-clinical settings. Complete clinical documentation and maintain productivity; develop and implement treatment plans with multidisciplinary teams; coordinate treatment, case management and discharge planning; collaborate with health care, social services, and community organizations. Participate in trainings (cultural competency, clinical practice, compliance, treatment planning, case management, co-occurring disorders and substance abuse). Provide administrative support (outreach, information on eligibility for state/federal programs such as Medi-Cal) and assist with eligibility paperwork; perform pre-screening as needed. For Intensive Services Clinicians, operate in community settings (homes, schools, public locations) to assess and stabilize individuals in crisis, and coordinate follow-up care; may transport individuals as needed. At higher levels, duties expand to supervision, leadership within the multidisciplinary team, and training-related activities. Behavioral Health Clinician III
adds advanced duties including: clinical documentation with minimal oversight, collaboration with community resources, 5150 evaluations and holds, and potential supervision of unlicensed staff in line with licensure and policy. Behavioral Health Clinician IV
adds leadership duties such as training development, presenting to agencies, supervising clinicians, and supporting clinic operations. Educational/Licensing Requirements
Education, Training, and Experience
– A Master’s degree in one of the following fields by date of hire: Marriage & Family Counseling; Counseling Psychology; Clinical Psychology; Clinical Counseling; Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Counseling (with MFC emphasis); Social Work (Clinical emphasis); or other equivalent Master’s degree approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). AND:
For I/II levels, current registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as an Associate MFT, Associate Clinical Social Worker, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor within the last six years, or near completion with documentation showing an internship/registration submission; for II level, minimum one year of relevant experience; for III/IV levels, licensed as MFT, LCSW, or LPCC with required years of post-master’s experience. Necessary Special Requirements
– Valid California driver license and the ability to work with various age groups; some positions may require evening/weekend hours. Desired
– Spanish-English bilingual skills may be preferred depending on vacancy location. Agency/Department
