Overview

This recruitment opportunity involves two distinct classification series, each with unique roles and responsibilities within the Ventura County Behavioral Health (VCBH) system. Behavioral Health Clinician and Intensive Services Clinician: Under immediate (I, II), general supervision (III), or general direction (IV), provides clinical or administrative behavioral health services under various levels of supervision in diverse, multidisciplinary settings through therapy, case management, interagency collaboration, and community organization. Roles and Responsibilities

Behavioral Health Clinician

(I-IV) and

Intensive Services Clinician

(I-IV) have distinct focus areas: Behavioral Health Clinician I/II

and

Intensive Services Clinician I/II : assess, evaluate and provide mental health and/or substance abuse services including individual, group and family therapy, crisis intervention, case management, and related activities; perform clinical documentation and treatment planning; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams; provide outreach and information about access to programs (e.g., Medi-Cal); and participate in training. Behavioral Health Clinician III

and

Intensive Services Clinician III : additional responsibilities include clinical documentation with minimal oversight, collaboration with support services, and for some roles, 5150 evaluations and supervision of unlicensed staff or students (as applicable to licensure and policy). Behavioral Health Clinician IV

and

Intensive Services Clinician IV : advanced/leadership duties including training, development of materials, supervision of staff, and supporting clinic operations and administration. Working Settings and Focus

Behavioral Health Clinicians

primarily work in office and clinic settings providing individual and group therapy, diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and case management, ensuring continuity of care within VCBH facilities.

Intensive Services Clinicians

work primarily in the community and field settings to respond to crises, assess and stabilize individuals in crisis, and coordinate follow-up services. Educational / Licensure Requirements

Education

and

Training : A Master's degree in one of the following: Marriage & Family Counseling; Counseling Psychology; Clinical Psychology; Clinical Counseling; Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Counseling with emphasis in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling; Social Work with emphasis on Clinical Social Work; or other equivalent Master\'s degree approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences Examiners. AND Behavioral Health Clinician I / Intensive Services Clinician I : must be currently registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences within the last six years as an Associate LMFT, Associate LCSW, or Associate LPCC, or be within 90 days of completing the Master\'s degree and have documentation that an application for intern/associate registration has been submitted to the BBS. Behavioral Health Clinician II / Intensive Services Clinician II : must be current with BBS registration within the last six years as an Associate; minimum of one year of relevant experience in acute/residential settings or outpatient public mental health services. Behavioral Health Clinician III / Intensive Services Clinician III : must possess a valid California License (LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC) and have a minimum of three years of relevant experience (two post-master\'s). Behavioral Health Clinician IV / Intensive Services Clinician IV : must possess a valid California License (LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC) and have a minimum of four years of post-licensure experience. Additional Requirements : Must possess and maintain a valid California driver license. Some positions may require evening/weekend hours and work with specific age groups. Maintenance of BBS licensure as a condition of continued employment for higher levels. Incentives and Represented Status

Educational/Bilingual Incentive:

Eligible for 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% educational incentive based on degree completed; bilingual incentive may apply based on operational need and certification. Agency/Department:

The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular, Intermittent, and Extra-Help vacancies within the Health Care Agency. There are currently multiple Regular vacancies for both classification series throughout Ventura County.
