Job Summary The successful candidate will construct and repair precision tools, dies, and fixtures, ensuring the production of high-quality components and contributing to the company's continued success. This role requires a high level of skill in machining, blueprint reading, and the use of precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet exact specifications. The successful candidate will construct and repair precision tools, dies, and fixtures, ensuring the production of high-quality components and contributing to the company's continued success.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly: Assemble the various parts to form the completed tool or die, ensuring each piece is put together accurately and securely
Manufacturing: Operate various machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders to fabricate the parts of the tools or dies as per the design specifications
Quality Assurance: Perform testing and inspection of finished products using precision measuring instruments to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards
Maintenance and Repair: Conduct regular inspections of tools and dies in use, performing necessary maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal performance and extend their lifespan
Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering specifications.
Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM equipment.
Fabricate and assemble tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures to support production.
Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools.
Perform maintenance and repairs on existing tools and dies to ensure optimal performance.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tooling designs and manufacturing
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
Must have PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) knowledge and experience
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in Tool and Die Making preferred.
3+ years of previous experience working in a manufacturing environment maintaining machines and performing repairs
Proficiency in machining and metalworking techniques.
Strong understanding of geometric tolerances and precision measurement. Ability to work independently and troubleshoot complex tooling issues.
Familiarity with CNC programming and CAD/CAM software is a plus.
Experience with any or all of the following equipment: Hovis, Minster, Bruderer, Walsh
Tool and die makers should have strong mechanical skills and troubleshoot any issues that might arise
The ability to effectively communicate with engineers, production staff, and others to understand project requirements
Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the USA Proficient in English
