Overview

Assistant Civil Engineer in the In-House Design Unit of the Division of Bridges. Under direct supervision, performs work in the fields of street and highway engineering related to bridge design projects. Prepares geometric standards for bridges and approaches in accordance with NYSDOT and FHWA standards. Prepares design of drainage systems and pavement in accordance with NYCDOT/NYSDOT/FHWA standards. Assists Engineer-In-Charge in preparing contract plans and engineering sketches using CADD system for various bridge replacement/rehabilitation projects. Participates in the preparation of specifications and cost estimates. Participates in field trips to bridges in design. Performs other related duties.

Required and Preferred Skills

Knowledge of Civil 3D software related to the design of highway/streets is expected. Candidates must have recent experience in CADD/Highway related design. Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Possession of a motor vehicle driver's license valid in the State of New York is preferred (license must be maintained throughout duration of employment). Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

Minimum Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.

Salary: $66,330.00 – $99,528.00
