Position Overview We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Assistant 1 within the Orthopedic Sports Medicine department at SoLé Mia.

Responsibilities

Utilize creative methods to support patients' individual needs and respect their spiritual beliefs, faith, and practices.

Establish trusting relationships by creating a conducive climate for healing, being authentically present, identifying and managing discomforts, and providing emotional support.

Prioritize and integrate multiple requests and work expectations, performing tasks appropriately, in a timely, safe, and professional manner. Communicate clearly and promptly with patients, families, and team members. Seek assistance when needed.

Participate in team building through unit/clinic programs and meetings, contribute to positive morale, and utilize available technology resources for communication, documentation, and clinical information.

Maintain current clinical practice skills, demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning, and stay informed about the patient population and assignments.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA.

Perform within the clinical scope of practice, adhering to standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations of the State, Federal, and University of Miami.

Accept and provide constructive feedback with kindness, fostering growth and self-esteem.

Abide by ethical standards, ensure therapeutic communication, and protect patient privacy.

Assist providers with physical examinations by preparing treatment/exam rooms with proper supplies and materials.

Understand the importance of asepsis, prepare patients for examinations, and perform vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, and documentation.

Clean and sterilize medical instruments, schedule tests, and complete laboratory forms.

Maintain accurate patient records, manage supplies, and perform clerical duties.

Adhere to policies and safeguard university assets.

Core Qualifications Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by the US Department of Education.

Certification and Licensing

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or other approved certifications.

If uncertified, must provide proof of completion of an approved program and agree to obtain certification within 12 months of hire.

Additional certifications: BLS, HIV/AIDS training.
