Licensed Practical Nurse - LPN (0.5 FTE) 2023-2024 School Year POSITION SUMMARY:

To assist student(s) with special needs under the direction of the District Nurse Leader, the Director of Health and Wellness, and/or their designee by accommodating students by aiding in the use of mobility equipment, feeding, and toileting. This individual will facilitate learning by maintaining a positive environment and modifying classroom instructions as needed in order to deliver Framingham Public Schools’ high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the opportunity gap among subgroups within the schools. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide tracheostomy care and suctioning as required by the student's care plan and medical orders. Provide respiratory assessment and detailed documentation as required by the student's care plan and medical orders. Assist and monitor students with daily living and eating skills, leisure activities, and mobility. Assist the student(s) to whom assigned in physical tasks such as putting on and taking off outerwear, moving from room to room, using the lavatory, etc. Accompany the student(s) to whom assigned when trips to the office or to the school nurse are necessary. Accompany the student to whom assigned on field trips and other activities during school hours. Establish a supportive and sympathetic relationship with the student(s) without fostering intense emotional involvement. Serve as a resource person to the student personnel evaluation team when requested. Perform toileting/lifting as needed. If the student to whom assigned is absent, the employee may be temporarily reassigned to another student or school based on the current needs of the district. PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about to provide services and may be required to occasionally traverse throughout the school building. This position is classified as Non-Exempt (Hourly). TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
