Responsibilities Develop and validate optical network architectures, including ROADM topology and amplifier placement
Generate High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), and Network Design Documents (NDD) for engineering and deployment teams
Perform optical power budgeting, span loss analysis, and OSNR validation using simulation tools
Provide Tier 3 design-level support during implementation and maintenance windows
Mentor junior engineers and field personnel in optical design principles and best practices
Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience
6+ years of professional experience in optical transport network design, planning, or integration
Deep understanding of DWDM, ROADM, and OTN systems, with familiarity in SONET/SDH, Ethernet, and MPLS-TP
Proven experience producing and validating design documentation (HLDs, LLDs, MOPs)
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects
Preferred Qualifications Experience with Fujitsu 1FINITY, 9500, or multivendor optical platforms (Ciena, Infinera, Nokia, Cisco)
Familiarity with Netsmart 1500, Virtuora Network Controller, or similar NMS/OSS environments
Scripting or automation experience (Python, Ansible, or YAML-based templates)
Exposure to open optical networking or disaggregated transport systems
Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional projects or customer deployments
