Maintenance Electrical-Mechanical Technician Overview Maintains and improves the electrical and mechanical systems of our manufacturing operations. Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on machinery to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime. Upheld safety standards within the facility.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment, including motors, conveyors, pumps, control systems, extruders, grinders, shredders, and other machinery.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical circuits, mechanical failures, and hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
Replace worn or damaged parts to restore machinery to optimal operating condition.
Install, calibrate, and maintain electrical components such as sensors, wiring, and control panels.
Execute regular preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity before they lead to downtime.
Document and track maintenance activities using the company’s maintenance management system.
Diagnose and repair electrical issues, including PLCs, motor controls, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Ensure compliance with electrical codes and standards.
Repair and maintain mechanical systems, including bearings, gears, belts, and shafts.
Weld or fabricate parts as needed to ensure proper equipment functionality.
Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
Conduct safety checks on equipment and systems to identify potential hazards.
Participate in safety training and promote a safe working environment.
Work closely with production teams and other technicians to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
Communicate effectively with management regarding equipment status, potential issues, and necessary improvements.
Participate in initiatives aimed at improving equipment performance and energy efficiency.
Suggest modifications or upgrades to improve system reliability and performance.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or recycling environment.
Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and control systems is a plus.
Strong understanding of safety practices and OSHA compliance.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that require standing, bending, kneeling, or climbing.
Comfortable working in industrial environments, including exposure to heat, cold, and noise.
