This is a full-time position with a base pay range of $73,000.00/yr - $105,000.00/yr. Actual pay will be based on skills and experience.
Overview Position: Talent Acquisition and Business Development – Welding/Metals. This role oversees welding practices, implements Burger’s welder qualification program and weld inspections, and leads corrective actions. Responsibilities include developing and updating welding procedures in line with approved standards to meet quality and productivity targets, budgeting assistance, and providing shop-floor weld mentoring and leadership.
Essential Job Functions
Lead the welder qualification program, including:
Prospective new hire qualification review and skill evaluations.
Welder training and work instruction mentoring and enforcement.
Ongoing welder qualification process tracking and mentoring to improve performance.
Lead all weld department quality assurance activities:
Coordinate and schedule repairs or welding rework based on feedback from the quality department and the Metals Manager.
Validate repairs are completed accurately, promptly, and efficiently.
Provide support to quality department personnel.
Coordinate all inspections with regulatory bodies.
Drive continuous improvement using lean techniques and research new methods to shorten production duration while maintaining Burger’s quality standards. If proposing new standards, write the procedure and obtain prior approval from the Metals Manager and Directors of Manufacturing and Engineering before implementation.
Monitor production plan execution, identify performance gaps between budgeted and actual hours, and propose solutions to meet project budgets. Provide daily feedback to the Metals Manager on associate performance related to quality and productivity.
Assist in developing budgetary estimates for new build and rework/refit projects.
Ensure all safety and environmental policies are followed by self and associates (PPE assessments, confined space management, fall protection, etc.).
Demonstrate the ability to locate, retrieve, and disseminate information from blueprints, computer files, and other engineering drawings.
Other duties as assigned.
Position in Organization Reports directly to the Metals Manager and has no direct reports.

Additional Expectations
Three to five years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge of aluminum and steel welding processes, especially aluminum.
Five or more years in metal fabrication and production involving construction and repair of metal structures.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to industrial welding operations.
Knowledge of ABS weld procedures and requirements at a minimum.
Experience in the maritime or shipbuilding industry preferred.
Certification Certified Welding Inspector certificate required.
Physical Requirements This role operates in a shipyard manufacturing environment. Regular use of PPE, exposure to welds, fumes, and loud noises. Ability to climb stairs and inspect items in tight spaces; ability to view welds with shields and have close, distance, color, and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
