Sales Engineer - Data Centers
Location: Remote (U.S.-based, preferably in Wisconsin or near a major airport due to frequent travel). Employment Type: Full-Time.
The Sales Engineer - Data Centers will operate under the guidance of a Power Solutions Manager, supporting technical pre-sales efforts of Industrial products with a focus on large kW and Data Center solutions. The ideal candidate will collaborate with MEP engineering firms, EPCs, and general contractors to help get products specified into data center design and procurement pipelines. This position is remote with up to 75% travel, including client visits, presentations, seminars, and trade events.
Overview
Role supports Generac solutions in data center applications, engaging with engineering and construction partners to advance specifications and technical sales success. Essential Responsibilities
Engineer Engagement & Specification Support (40%) Identify key MEP engineering firms and promote Generac solutions. Lead educational engagements (lunch & learns, seminars, etc.). Influence specifications around Generac generator and ATS products. Provide on-site and virtual technical sales support. Sales Support & Project Assistance (30%) Collaborate with regional sales managers and distributors on project-specific engagements. Assist in creating competitive analyses and custom sales tools. Develop and deliver technical product presentations and materials. Market & Client Research (20%) Use tools like Dodge Analytics to identify and qualify engineering firms. Co-lead technical training sessions and educational campaigns for engineers. Other Duties (10%) Participate in internal projects and initiatives as needed. Provide real-time voice-of-customer feedback. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering. Minimum 3 years of technical sales or sales support experience in the Data Center market. Experience collaborating with MEP Engineering, EPC, or General Contracting firms. Willing and able to travel up to 75% (including air travel). Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with Data Center electrical or mechanical design. Prior experience with generator and power solutions in mission-critical environments. Familiarity with pre-sales engineering tools like Power Design Pro, PDSS, etc. Key Skills & Attributes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills across technical and executive audiences. Technical aptitude in power systems and generator products. Ability to influence without authority. Self-driven, results-oriented, and strategic thinker. Strong analytical skills; proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous client engagements and travel schedules.
