Responsibilities
Installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, digital fault recorders (DFR’s), remote terminal units (RTU’s) and communication processors.
Functional testing for protection and control circuitry associated with transmission lines, HV bus, transformer, circuit breaker, feeder, reactors and capacitor banks.
RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients.
Experience with SEL micro‑processor relays such as 311C, 311L, 387, 411L, 421, 487B, 487E, 487V, 587, 587Z, and 787.
Desire for experience with GE micro‑processor relays such as C30, D60, F35, L90, T35 and T60.
Required experience with various RTU’s and communication processors such as GE, Telvent, SEL, Cooper and Novatech.
Accurately review, document and submit test reports used for client reporting and regulatory purposes.
Interpret one‑line, three‑line wiring, schematic diagrams and communication configurations, identifying discrepancies.
Accurately complete time and expense reports while maintaining good condition of the assigned company vehicle.
Qualifications Required Education/Experience:
Relay testing, test‑plan building, function testing, end‑to‑end testing, protection‑scheme troubleshooting with drawings and relay settings.
Communication with clients about daily testing activities, schedules, anticipated roadblocks and material/testing issues.
RTU/SCADA testing – checkout and prove RTU points, analogs, commands and statuses.
Other Requirements:
Must lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Must pass a fit‑for‑duty physical exam when required.
Must pass a pre‑employment drug test and periodic unannounced drug tests.
Must pass a pre‑employment background check with 7‑year history.
Must have a valid driver’s license and meet minimum motor‑vehicle insurability standards.
Must complete 30‑hour OSHA training.
Must be able to work in a field environment subject to changing outdoor conditions.
Must work overtime as needed and be willing to travel extensively to client work locations.
Must read, write and speak English fluently.
