About the Opportunity
Primary responsibility for building wooden structures such as blocking according to sketches, blueprints or oral instructions. Studies of specifications to determine dimension of safety barriers, trim/millwork, toilet accessories and door/hardware installation.
How You’ll Contribute
Set hollow metal frames/pre-hung door units
Hang doors & install door hardware
Erect, assemble, and install framing
Install interior and exterior trim, cabinetry, and wood blocking
Measure boards, timber or plywood using square or measuring tape, mark cutting lines on material using pencils, cut material to required sizes
Perform other construction activities necessary to complete project
Perform demolition work if necessary
Install bathroom accessories
Work with wood framing & metal stud, install windows, install flashing, and insulation
Other Functions
Interact with other field employees and subcontractors
Ability to read blueprints
Qualifications
Minimum of five years of carpentry construction experience
Valid driver’s license & transportation
Tools / Equipment
Supply own carpentry tools: Toolbelt, hammer, tape measure, utility knife, pencil, combination or speed square
Able to move materials for demolition work
Relationships
Report to the General Superintendent, Carpentry
Interact with other field employees and subcontractors
Authority and Accountability
Build wooden structures and determine dimensions according to sketches, blueprints, or instructions
Study specifications to determine dimensions of safety barriers, trim/millwork, toilet accessories, and door/hardware installation
Set hollow metal frames, hang doors, install hardware, erect framing
Install interior and exterior trim, cabinetry, wood blocking, and participate in other construction activities necessary for project completion
Complete tasks correctly and on time as per project instructions
Maintain a safe work environment by following safety rules
Keep supervisors and team members informed about progress, challenges, and any problems
Be punctual
Working Conditions Works both indoor and outdoor construction with exposure to various weather conditions and temperatures. Overtime may be required, and some work may involve elevated heights, several stories above ground or work below ground. Out-of-Town work may also be required.
Physical Requirements Walk 4–6 hours, stand for 7+ hours, minimal sitting. Drive 1–4 hours. Lift/carry up to 75 lbs (frequently up to 50 lbs). Use upper extremities for repetitive simple grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation. Be able to bend at waist, squat, climb ladders, reach above shoulders, kneel, crawl, work at heights above 6 feet. Occasionally use feet for foot controls.
