We are seeking a proactive and experienced Project Superintendent to be the on-site leader for our construction projects. As the central driver of project execution, you will oversee all daily field operations, manage crews and subcontractors, and enforce strict safety standards to deliver projects on time and to the highest quality. This role requires strong leadership, deep field expertise, and exceptional coordination to navigate the moving parts of a construction site and drive successful outcomes. Core Responsibilities
On-site Project Oversight: Manage and coordinate all daily activities of crews and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to schedules and efficient operations to keep the project on track. Safety & Quality Assurance: Rigorously enforce all safety protocols, conduct regular site inspections to guarantee the highest standards of workmanship, and proactively identify and resolve potential issues. Problem Resolution: Act as the primary on-site resource for addressing unexpected challenges, leveraging extensive field experience to solve issues such as material shortages, weather-related delays, or conflicts between trades. Communication: Facilitate clear and practical communication between office staff, project managers, subcontractors, clients, and on-site teams. Logistics & Schedule Management: Manage material and equipment deliveries, develop and maintain work schedules for subcontractors, and coordinate necessary inspections with relevant local authorities. Utilize lookahead schedules and close out the day by walking the jobsite with the subcontractors to establish first-priority projects for the following day. In Between Projects: Provide integral office support to project managers and office staff, including administrative and coordination tasks such as coordinating with subcontractors, reviewing plans for upcoming projects, developing schedules, and creating material and parts order lists for procurement. Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a site construction superintendent for a general contractor, including at least 1 year in an operating retail environment. 10 years of total construction experience preferred. Leadership and management: Lead employees by example to meet project goals related to safety, schedule, and budget; manage multiple trades and rapidly changing requirements under compressed timelines; can function as a self-starter. Communication: Communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of employees, management, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers; respond appropriately to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and the business community. Technical expertise: Read, analyze, and interpret construction plans, project reports, contracts, and other technical documentation; apply mathematical concepts to calculate figures such as area, volume, and proportions. Problem-solving: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; use a data-driven approach to collaborate with management, customers, and subcontractors to implement solutions. Software proficiency: Use standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite) to create and edit spreadsheets and documents; familiarity with construction accounting, project management, and/or estimating software is preferred.
