What You Will Spark At Amplify

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Materials Engineer (Cathode Focus) to join our team. The Materials Engineer will specialize in the research, development, and characterization of cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries, with a primary emphasis on LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) and LMFP (Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate) cathode. This role involves material synthesis, characterization, electrochemical testing, and collaboration with external vendors or partners to qualify and optimize cathode materials. Key Responsibilities

Work with suppliers to investigate and characterize material synthesis process to control and improve material quality and consistency. Characterize cathode materials using techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), particle size analysis, and surface area analysis (BET). Prepare cathode electrodes and assemble coin cells or pouch cells to evaluate the electrochemical performance of synthesized materials. Optimize synthesis and processing parameters to improve material properties (e.g., particle size, morphology, crystallinity) and electrochemical performance. Interact with material suppliers to evaluate new cathode materials and discuss technical specifications. Analyze experimental data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to the team and management. Stay current with the latest research and development in LFP/LMFP cathode materials and related technologies. Adhere to all laboratory safety procedures and guidelines. Develop and document novel cathode material compositions, synthesis methods, and processing techniques.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field; PhD preferred. 5+ years of experience in materials research and development, with a strong focus on cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LFP/LMFP experience highly preferred). Demonstrated experience in synthesizing inorganic materials, preferably using methods relevant to cathode materials. Proficiency in material characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM, TEM, and particle size analysis. Familiarity with electrochemical testing methods for battery materials. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
