The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, applying, and maintaining quality requirements and standards under the direct supervision of the Quality Manager.
Essential Functions
Develop test methods and procedures to support product validation efforts.
Serve as the primary Quality Assurance resource to department supervisors for resolution, loss reporting, and continuous improvement.
Design and implement methods for process control, improvement, and testing.
Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, and reports.
Collaborate with suppliers and customer quality representatives on quality issues and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
Maintain test equipment to traceable standards.
Directly support and/or lead new product launches, including coordination with tooling vendors and communication with customers.
Create and maintain APQP documentation, including control plans, process flows, and PFMEA activities.
Submit PPAP documentation in the customer format and software.
Review blueprint specifications and generate the necessary PPAP documentation to uphold specifications and standards.
Evaluate causes of scrap and work toward defect elimination.
Coordinate with Operations to lead and direct associates on quality standards.
Monitor tooling and assembly process equipment, ensuring calibration standards and process checkpoints are complete and within operational tolerances.
Audit quality systems, ensuring adherence to Quality Management System procedures. Responsible for maintenance of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certifications.
Participate in all TVS SCS quality and excellence initiatives.
APQP core tool knowledge: Control Plans; PFMEA; Process Flow; PPAP; Gage Control & MSA.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills. Detail-oriented. Adaptable. Problem solving/analysis. Interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate may occasionally be required to lift 51 pounds; anything more significant than 51 pounds requires assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
This job occurs in a manufacturing environment with heavy forklift traffic and seasonal temperature changes. Employees must wear steel-toed shoes and vests as part of their personal protective equipment. The work will be divided between an office setting and the production/warehouse area.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Full Time, Exempt. Schedule flexibility for extended or unplanned work hours is required.
Travel Occasional travel between locations may be required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field; Supply Chain, Business Management, or equivalent in experience, training, and/or Certifications.
5+ years of experience in a supply chain/manufacturing environment.
APQP core tool knowledge: Control Plans; PFMEA; Process Flow; PPAP; Gage Control & MSA.
Fluent in problem-solving tools and techniques (A3 / 8D; 5-Why; Cause & Effects Analysis; PDCA; DMAIC; etc.).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Basic Knowledge of Statistical Process Control and Process Capability and Control.
Knowledge of IATF16949, ISO9001, and ISO14001; Capable of internal audits, supplier audits, and management of supplier corrective actions.
ASQ CQE, QMS Internal Auditor, and/or Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification, preferred.
