For this opening, we’re looking for someone with at least experience with plant layouts, maximum of 7-10 years. AutoCAD 2D experience is required; 3D is nice to have.
The Layout Integration Engineer will support the Central Layout Group by developing and integrating layouts for Vision, Site, Future, and Current Production projects. This role will lead integration meetings, manage technical direction, and support layout activities from concept through installation, utilizing 2D and 3D AutoCAD.
Responsibilities
Support integration, collaboration, technical direction, and development of vision, feasibility, future, and current program production layouts using 3D AutoCAD Architecture and FactoryCAD.
Execute the layout development and integration process for multiple GM North American facilities across Site, Press, Body, Paint, General Assembly (GA), Casting, Engine, and/or Transmission.
Lead integration meetings, develop and maintain issues list(s), and facilitate a cross‑functional layout development process.
Provide layout Subject Matter Expert (SME) level support to plant, program, CLG staff, and Manufacturing Engineering (ME) center customers.
Maintain drawing file library and process incoming files ensuring adherence to CLG layout standards & procedures.
Generate installation level design/detail drawings as required.
Other contributions as appropriate.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience utilizing AutoCAD Architecture and/or FactoryCAD.
3+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing setting.
High level of interpersonal, oral, and written/electronic communication skills enabling interaction with all levels of the organization.
High level of analytical ability and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and execute projects.
Comfort in effectively organizing and leading meetings/workshops.
Adept at working efficiently and constructively with multiple customers/programs simultaneously.
Familiarity/Experience with Navisworks, Leica TrueView, and Microsoft Office software.
College degree or equivalent experience and training.
Ability to travel to North American facilities without restriction.
5+ years 3D layout experience utilizing AutoCAD Architecture and FactoryCAD.
3+ years of Production, Maintenance, or ME experience in Press, Body, Paint, GA, Casting, Engine, or Transmission.
Experience with Unigraphics (UG), Vis Mockup, and graphic software conversion (i.e. UG to AutoCAD).
Knowledge of GMS and Lean Material Flow Working knowledge of GM standards and processes.
