A prominent provider of high-quality construction materials in the United States is currently seeking a Fleet Diesel Mechanic to join the team at the Ready Mix Plant in Tonawanda, NY. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and machinery to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. The Fleet Diesel Mechanic will engage in hands-on troubleshooting, perform routine maintenance, and work closely with the maintenance team to reduce equipment downtime and support ongoing operations. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting advanced diagnostics on diesel engines and hydraulic systems to pinpoint mechanical and electrical issues. You will also carry out extensive repairs and rebuilds of diesel engines, transmissions, and rotary equipment using specialized tools and diagnostic software. Additionally, you will implement routine and preventive maintenance schedules to guarantee the reliability and safety of heavy-duty vehicles and machinery. Collaborating with maintenance supervisors, you will develop repair plans, estimate costs, and efficiently procure necessary parts. Maintaining accurate service records and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies will also be key aspects of your responsibilities, as will promoting a culture of safety and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards in all work area. Responsibilities Conduct advanced diagnostics on diesel engines and hydraulic systems to identify mechanical and electrical issues. Perform repairs and rebuilds of diesel engines, transmissions, and rotary equipment using specialized tools and diagnostic software. Implement routine and preventive maintenance schedules to guarantee reliability and safety of heavy-duty vehicles and machinery. Develop repair plans, estimate costs, and procure necessary parts in collaboration with maintenance supervisors. Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Promote a culture of safety and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards in the work area. Requirements Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy equipment. Travel Requirements: Travel as needed within the region. Mechanical & Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of diesel systems, including engines, hydraulics, electrical, and fuel systems. Diagnostic & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot engine or system issues using diagnostic tools. Possession of relevant certifications such as ASE Diesel Certification or OEM-specific training () Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, capable of solving complex mechanical issues with minimal supervision. Proficient with diagnostic tools, scan equipment, and repair software for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues. Independence & Time Management: Ability to manage repairs on-site, prioritize tasks, and complete work without direct supervision. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
