Our client, a leading supplier of construction building materials in the United States, is looking for a skilled
Fleet Diesel Mechanic
to join their operations team in Tonawanda, NY. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and machinery to ensure maximum performance, safety, and reliability. This is a hands‑on technical role that supports critical equipment operations at a Ready Mix Plant.
Key Responsibilities
Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting on diesel engines and hydraulic systems to identify faults.
Conduct repairs and rebuilds of diesel engines, transmissions, and rotary components using specialized tools.
Execute preventive maintenance schedules to ensure fleet reliability and safety compliance.
Adjust and calibrate engine controls, fuel injection, and emission systems to meet performance standards.
Collaborate with supervisors to plan repairs, estimate costs, and manage parts procurement.
Maintain accurate service and inspection records, ensuring all work meets OSHA and company safety policies.
Promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility across all work areas.
Carry out additional maintenance duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (Diesel Mechanics Technology certification preferred).
Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment.
Strong knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Skilled in using diagnostic software and mechanical troubleshooting tools.
Relevant certifications such as ASE Diesel or OEM‑specific training (preferred).
Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
Strong problem‑solving and time‑management skills with minimal supervision.
Travel within the region as required.
Additional Requirements
Must follow all safety protocols and wear approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Candidates required to wear respirators must maintain a clean‑shaven face to ensure proper fit and seal.
