Overview As an Assistant Superintendent, you will work in the field alongside the Project Superintendent and Construction Project Manager, managing daily operations of a construction site, coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment while ensuring compliance and schedule adherence.
Responsibilities
Assist with opening and securing the jobsite daily.
Manage daily traffic of people, equipment, vehicles, and materials; compile reports; enforce safety and legal regulations.
Inspect completed and in-progress structures for safety, compliance, and conformance to plans and local codes.
Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
Communicate with Project Superintendent regarding RFI’s and material submittals.
Participate in weekly subcontractor meetings.
Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to keep the project on schedule.
Ensure subcontractor is fully executing and complying with contracted scope of work.
Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate to Project Superintendent.
Issue notices of non-compliance to Project Superintendent regarding quality of work or scheduling.
Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by Project Superintendent.
Provide direction to and resolve problems amongst subcontractors and vendors.
Walk all units on project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning.
Keep the job site clean and organized.
Create reports regarding quality of output and progress prior to completion as needed.
Perform job progress and completion punch list identification.
Take meeting minutes as needed.
Attend meetings and training assigned.
Qualifications
Desire to work in the field for a growing construction company.
A High School diploma or GED equivalent is required; BA or associates in construction management welcome.
2-3 years of experience within construction or trades management.
Intermediate knowledge of building products, construction details, and all safety regulations.
Intermediate ability to read and understand construction drawings and blueprints.
Basic experience in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn other software.
Basic knowledge of Procore, Blue Beam, and Microsoft Project.
High level of confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with Owners/Clients/Teammates.
Solid organizational and planning skills.
Strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to details.
Self-motivated professional with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day.
Capacity to physically lift between 50-100lbs.
Reliable transportation.
Ability to travel and visit sites in inclement weather.
