Production Supervisor – Fabrication

Position Summary The Production Supervisor – Fabrication is responsible for the direct supervision of 25–30 employees within the fabrication production area. The Supervisor ensures that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with customer specifications, company standards, and ISO quality requirements. Primary duties include safety leadership, production management, performance monitoring, continuous improvement, and support of audit processes.
Safety Leadership
Promote safety, quality, and production as equally important.
Conduct safety inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and implement corrective actions.
Train employees on hazard recognition and safe work practices.
Investigate injuries, incidents, and near misses and implement corrective actions.
Encourage a “Safety First” mindset and proactive reporting.
Recognize and reward employees who actively contribute to hazard elimination.
Supervision and Production Management
Provide hands‑on leadership and daily direction to fabrication team members.
Train operators on equipment, processes, and quality expectations.
Maintain efficient workflow and schedule adherence.
Plan, assign, monitor, and adjust work to meet production goals.
Ensure proper use, maintenance, and control of materials, tools, and equipment.
Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, and Safety departments to resolve issues.
Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and in‑process work.
Plan and approve overtime in coordination with the Production Manager.
Support continuous improvement initiatives (6‑S, lean).
Performance Metrics
Safety performance and proactive participation.
Schedule attainment.
Product quality.
Labor efficiency.
Employee attendance, morale, and turnover.
Compliance with 6‑S and continuous improvement objectives.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in new product or process design reviews.
Qualifications
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proven ability to train, coach, and motivate teams.
Working knowledge of production processes, materials handling, and fabrication equipment.
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, ERP systems preferred).
Commitment to continuous improvement and employee engagement.
Strong work ethic with the ability to follow directions and prioritize tasks.
Safety‑conscious and reliable; must follow all company safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, or on‑call assignments as required.
Experience
Experience with fiberglass handling or air testing is a plus.
Minimum 6 months of experience in an industrial, construction, or fabrication setting preferred.
Familiarity with basic hand tools and measuring equipment.
Physical Demands
Lift/carry: sedentary up to 10 lbs; light up to 20 lbs; medium up to 50 lbs regularly.
Hands and arms for tool and equipment operation.
Remain on feet for extended periods.
Frequent wrist/hand motions.
Respond quickly to sounds.
Move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
Visual acuity required for accuracy and thoroughness of work.
Standing/walking for more than 90% of shift, including long distances.
Ability to work in extreme weather.
Work Environment
Active industrial shop with exposure to dust, noise, varying temperatures, and heavy machinery.
Frequent use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and dust masks as required.
Education
Associate’s or Technical degree in a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
