Are you a skilled Mechanical Fitter with a background in heavy industries? Ready to work on large-scale components that power the future of industrial transport? Due to expansion and natural attrition, we are recruiting Mechanical Fitters to support the fitment and assembly of a new fleet of passenger fleets. You’ll be working on heavy-duty components in a hands‑on, production-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical fitment of large components including underframes, gearboxes, and diesel engines
Reading and interpreting schematic and engineering drawings
Working as part of a skilled team to meet production deadlines
Ensuring high standards of safety and quality throughout the build process
Candidate Essentials
Prior experience in mechanical fitting within a heavy industry (e.g. Rail, HGV, Oil & Gas, Aerospace)
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Comfortable working with heavy mechanical components
Demonstrable hands‑on experience in mechanical assembly / fitment
Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Fitting
Apprenticeship in a relevant mechanical discipline
Desirable
Experience working on locomotives or rail vehicles
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Overhead crane or forklift certification
