Position: Environmental Science Adjunct (Part Time). The adjunct faculty teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters and up to 8 credit hours during the summer session. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no guarantee of continued employment. Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to ensure consistent attendance. Responsibilities
Teach specific classes in the designated discipline. Develop course syllabi and instructional materials. Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress. Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS. Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization. Essential Functions
Meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations. Qualifications
Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in Environmental Science. Ability to effectively teach both in-person and online. Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Ability to use instructional technology. Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools. Additional Considerations
Prior teaching experience. Work experience in the field. Experience with online teaching. Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both synchronous and asynchronous environments at a regionally accredited institution. Other details
