Pharmacy Technician Summary:

Assists the pharmaceutical staff in expediting and delivering quality care to patients at Danbury Hospital. Ensures that products and services are provided in a timely, safe, and cost‑effective manner according to department policies, procedures, and practice standards.

Responsibilities

Fills “Below Minimum” reports of the Med Select system utilized by the nursing units to ensure that appropriate levels of medications are maintained. Delivers medications to patient care units and ancillary departments.

Attends and participates in staff meetings to identify and resolve issues and establish quality improvement processes.

Receives and processes shipments of pharmaceuticals.

Deals courteously and tactfully with patients and staff.

Meets department standards for attendance, punctuality, customer service, telephone communication, and cost containment.

Operates pharmacy information systems.

Attends safety training and complies with standards.

Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education HS Grad / Equivalent

Requirements

Minimum Experience: Zero to six months.

Must obtain PTCB Certification within 12 months of hire.

License: Registered Pharmacy Technician.

Within 30 days, obtain certification from CT Department of Consumer Protection for those working in CT.

Desired Qualifications Pharmacy Technician experience. Computer skills, ability to multi‑task, and work independently.

Working Conditions Manual: Some manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity. Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk. Physical Effort: Very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs. force. Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions.
