Licensed Practical Nurse - Belpre Medical Oncology
Full Time 1.0 (80 hrs biweekly) Location: Belpre, OH
Overview
In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities, supporting the patients' medical and nursing plan of care. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Responsibilities
Assist in all aspects of patient care within scope of practice.
Comply with safety and infection control standards.
Provide patient care as assigned by charge nurse/team leader.
Complete required competencies.
Perform glucometer blood sugars as needed.
Perform peripheral venipuncture for lab draws following training.
Obtain vital signs: height, weight, TPR, blood pressure, O2 saturation.
Enter current data into EMR, including meaningful use measures, patient history updates, and clinic summary note each visit.
Complete medication reconciliation with each clinic visit.
Perform chart checks in preparation of patient clinic visits.
Consult social services for patients with elevated psychosocial distress.
Obtain OARRS reporting as requested by ordering providers.
Participate in community education and health screenings as assigned.
Administer subcu, IM, and oral medications as prescribed by provider.
Provide thorough chemotherapy instruction and obtain patient informed consent prior to scheduled chemotherapy administration.
Serve as liaison to provider to limit unnecessary interruptions to workflow.
Submit prescriptions following provider authorization and ensure electronic prescription submission.
Demonstrate general knowledge of prescribed oral chemotherapy agents and supportive medications.
Follow established process for acquisition, inventory, and dispensing of sample medications.
Obtain external diagnostic results including biomolecular testing, pathology, and previous clinical history prior to provider visit.
Generate QCL to authorization staff prior to scheduling any patient treatments or diagnostic studies.
Respond to patient nurse line requests promptly and document resolution of these requests.
Maintain a clean and orderly environment in the clinic, including up-to-date patient educational material.
Maintain compliance in RQI.
Assume all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications
Current licensure in the State of Ohio (or WV license if working in WV).
Must possess a N.A.P.N.E.S., O.O.P.N.E., or State Board of Nursing medication administration card.
BLS certification required.
