Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Chemist to support our Beaumont facility. At Arkema, Chemists are responsible for providing support to operations and shipping to resolve, improve, test, and enhance products in an environmentally sound, responsible, and safe manner, in compliance with all Arkema, Inc. site requirements. The Chemist will manage multiple projects utilizing technical expertise for the Beaumont plant. This position reports directly to the Continuous Improvement Leader and has no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities include:
Providing analytical data to plant personnel, corporate personnel, and external customers for informed decision-making.
Developing and maintaining SQC charts, spreadsheets, and analytical results.
Ensuring shipments are on-spec.
Determining acceptable variability factors for analyses.
Compiling analyses and producing statistical data for customer or plant specification changes.
Owning and maintaining software applications specific to instruments and data, such as LIMS & Compass CDS.
Leading troubleshooting efforts.
Calibrating and repairing instrumentation.
Maintaining equipment and supplies for smooth laboratory operations.
Establishing and improving methodologies for wet chemistry, GC, IC, and TOC analyses.
Reviewing, revising, and developing standard lab procedures.
Assuming responsibilities of QC Manager in their absence and performing duties of Lab Technicians as needed.
Maintaining a water operator license.
Upholding HSE responsibilities, including incident reporting, following OSHA guidelines, and using SDS.
Using budgeted funds ethically and responsibly.
Training personnel on analytical procedures and test methods.
Managing and implementing special projects, acting as a technical interface between lab management and technicians.
Providing expertise and support to less experienced Chemists.
Adhering to ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 standards, EPA, TCEQ, and in-house guidelines, as well as ASTM standards.
Following OSHA regulations concerning lab practices and safety.
Complying with the company's Code of Conduct.
Supporting the development of short and long-term objectives and executing projects collaboratively.
Supporting site HES policies and participating in safety activities.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Chemistry.
At least 7 years of experience in analytical testing in a laboratory setting, with gas chromatography experience required.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advanced computer skills.
Leadership qualities, proactivity, and initiative.
Strong commitment to safety and adherence to lab procedures.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with varying priorities.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
