Registered Nurse, Heart Cath Lab
$7,500 Sign‑on Bonus for Experienced RNs
Full time, 80 hours per pay period, Day Shift. Call rotation required.
Overview Morristown‑Hamblen Healthcare System has 167 licensed beds and 23 emergency suites. The hospital offers laboratory, radiology, therapy services, a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, a Women’s Center with labor and delivery suites, and a secure nursery. It serves an eight‑county region in the Lakeway Area and is equipped with modern technologies and expert staff to provide the best possible patient care.
Position Summary Provides nursing services to Cardiac Catheterization Lab patients in accordance with established nursing standards and practices; sets up electrical and hemodynamic transducers and amplifiers; records and obtains hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data; assesses patients during invasive cardiac procedures; and delivers therapy as required. Coordinates patient care with other health‑care professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Prepares patient and equipment for catheterization procedures by preparing site of entry, draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating and setting up pressure transducers and tubing.
Obtains and records hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.
Attends to patient needs during cardiac studies.
Develops and contributes to a plan of nursing care for the patient.
Administers intravenous and oral medications to patients.
Assists in the collection of arterial and venous blood samples and respiratory gases.
Precepts and trains new employees and students in the techniques of cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology.
Monitors patient vital signs during and after cardiovascular procedures.
Participates in life‑saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Completes nursing history when appropriate.
Assesses learning needs of patient and family and develops and initiates teaching plan.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
Resolves problems regarding less complex issues without oversight or supervision.
Responds appropriately and timely to patients, physicians, and other customers needs.
Assists with identification of department or health system education needs and provides 2–3 hours of in‑service education annually.
Participates on unit‑based committee and serves as council representative with 75% participation.
Functions as a role model to peers by cross‑training to other departments and serving as a resource person.
Completes department‑specific checklist and any additional requirements as needed.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards; completes required education assignments annually; works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education None specified; must meet the standards for RN license.
Minimum Experience Minimum of eight (8) years Cath Lab experience or eight (8) years advanced cardiac experience and registered nurse; or 1 year Cath Lab experience and 2 years as an RN.
Licensure Requirement Valid RN license with State of TN; CPR required.
