Overview
Pipefitter Helper position located in Vidor, TX with Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD), an engineering/construction company affiliated with Koch Engineered Solutions (KES). OPD has a history in the natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical industries and provides construction services along with engineering/procurement. What You Will Do
Assist pipefitter with setting, assembling, and installing pipe. Know pipe fittings, bolts, valves, and related components. Prepare pipe and fittings for hoisting and rigging. Familiarity with different metals. Locate and mark bending and cutting lines on metal. Clean work area and restock supplies as necessary. Operate tools and equipment including beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, andSaw-Zall. Work safely and accurately. Participate in a strong safety culture, recognize hazards, attend onsite safety meetings, and follow OPD and client safety policies. Be punctual and maintain a positive attitude; work well in a team with high attention to detail. Physical Demands
Work outdoors in various weather conditions; may include extreme heat/cold and high elevations. Lift and carry objects up to 60 lbs. Stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day). Move, climb, reach, bend, and balance; work on elevated platforms with a full-body harness and lanyard as required. Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and tools. Qualifications (Basic)
6 months of experience in an industrial environment. Exposure to different metals and knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc. Other Requirements
Travel is required with extended periods away from home in remote areas at times. Willing to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week. Must meet all physical demands of the job and attend mandatory safety meetings. Preferred Qualifications
6+ months of experience as a pipefitter helper. Experience reading ISO drawings and plans; familiarity with metals and pipe components. Experience in a gas plant construction environment. About Koch and OPD
