Position: Pipefitter
Our Team Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD) is an engineering and construction company headquartered in Katy, TX, specializing in natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical projects. What You Will Do
Read drawings, take measurements, draw isometrics, and install piping efficiently.
Interpret basic blueprints.
Bolts, clamps, and tack‑weld parts to secure in position for welding.
Distinguish varying thickness and types of metal materials.
Position and clamp together components of fabricated metal products to prepare for welding.
Use pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc., as required.
Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by welding and threading joints without errors.
Manually handle and securely apply rigging equipment.
Weld small areas to client requirements.
Operate tools and equipment including beveling machines, cut‑off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw‑Zall.

Be aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite.
Be on time to the jobsite each day, ready for work.

Maintain high attention to detail to avoid reworks and errors.
Work in outdoor weather and environmental conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, cold, and high elevations.
Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs.
Stand for extended periods, up to 11 hours per day.
Move the entire body with regular use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending.
Work on elevated platforms and maintain balance on narrow platforms such as beams and pipes while wearing an approved full‑body harness and lanyard.
Handle, control, and manipulate objects or tools with the hands.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
At least 2 years of experience as a pipefitter.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints (ISO, P&ID).
Other Job Requirements
Travel is a must with extended periods away from home in remote areas.
Willingness and ability to work shifts up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Must meet all physical demands of the job.
Attendance at mandatory safety meetings.
What Will Put You Ahead
Previous experience in a gas plant construction environment.
3 years of experience as a pipefitter.
Previous experience leading safety initiatives.
Familiarity with welding basics.
