Minimum Qualifications
BA degree in English, Journalism, Business Administration, or Technical Writing.
Experience
Five (5) years of experience in the development of USMC publications, including writing/editing technical documentation and procedures for C4ISR systems or equipment.
Secret level clearance required.
Additional Desired Qualifications
Experience producing documentation such as user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation for DoD electronic equipment and systems.
Experience following and applying military and civilian style guide standards to work products.
Understanding of 30‑60‑90% technical documentation deliverables and ability to project due‑outs for documentation timelines.
Familiarity with DLA, NSNs, WebFLIS, CAGE Codes, and H6 naming conventions for USMC documentation.
Experience using classification guidelines for derivative classification of deliverables.
Advanced experience with hardware and software technical writing.
Strong editing skills.
Submitting writing samples with resume strongly encouraged.
Job Description VNE is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor 2 to support the research, development, test, evaluation, fielding, documentation development, configuration management, software engineering, integration, training, and sustainment of United States Marine Corps Signals Intelligence Systems programs.
Requirements
Write and edit technical documentation for project systems and software as needed to meet contract requirements.
Document processes and procedures in clear, concise, and accurate manner.
Research and compile technical data to create and edit technical documentation, including but not limited to:
Operator and Maintenance Manuals
Administrator Manuals
User Manuals
Maintenance and Technical Instructions
Software Installation Instructions
Software Release Notes
Stock Lists
Test Plans and Reports
Training Packages
Interpret and apply technical writing deliverables based on engineering drawings and input from SMEs, logisticians, and test teams.
Collaborate with the technical writing team and other functional areas to plan, coordinate, and develop documents, anticipating potential changes and gaps.
Edit and proofread technical documentation to ensure accuracy and clarity.
Participate in peer reviews across functional areas.
Create and edit graphics, photos, figures, flowcharts, diagrams, and other visual aids as needed.
Use style guides, military standards, and existing templates to meet formatting, structure, and classification requirements.
Maintain documentation for highly complex systems and programming operations.
Meet documentation deadlines with minimal management input.
Use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Gimp, Adobe Acrobat/PDF X‑Change, and other appropriate tools.
Obtain and retain required clearance and access.
Essential Duties
Communicate task requirements clearly and concisely.
Participate in meetings and working groups; sit and stand for prolonged periods.
Use a keyboard with visual acuity.
Attend work daily during scheduled hours, unless traveling or approved time off.
Work on computer for long periods, communicating via telephone, email, and face‑to‑face.
