November 18, 2014 Description: Reports to: Regional Sales Manager As a Business Development Associate, your focus will be on proactively developing new customer accounts while supporting and growing existing ones. You will sell and promote BGI’s portfolio of multi-omics services, including DNA sequencing, RNA sequencing, proteomics, and gene regulatory and epigenetic assay services to academic, institutional, biotech, and pharmaceutical clients. You will report to the RSM. Responsibilities: Develop new customer accounts and generate sales revenue from BGI’s genomics services. Represent BGI in all sales-related activities within your territory, including identifying potential collaborations. Lead projects requiring coordination with cross-functional teams, including lab personnel, investigators, and project managers. Utilize and maintain the Salesforce database. Provide bi-monthly and monthly account forecasts to sales management. Qualifications: 1-2 years of sales experience selling biological services or products, such as genomic assays to academia, institutions, biotech, and pharma companies. Experience in two or more of the following areas is preferred: RNA and DNA sequencing, array-based services, assay development, bioinformatics. Proven track record of maintaining and growing relationships with institutional principals and top pharmaceutical accounts. Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences is preferred; M.S. or Ph.D. is a plus, with knowledge of molecular biology and genomics. Experience in developing new customer accounts is essential. Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Willingness to travel 25-50%. Work remotely from a home office.
