Description Manage the visa and work authorization processes for the district's employees on all visas and special authorizations.
Coordinate the day-to-day functions related to all district employees on employment authorizations (OPT, H1B, J1, F1, etc.).
Discuss the progress of projects and relay information from the district’s immigration attorney on H1B visa employees.
Participate in planning for the extension of H1B status and permanent residence processes for eligible employees.
Monitor electronic records (Oracle) of employees with work authorizations to ensure valid status and timely renewals.
Serve as liaison between employees and Talent Leader Acquisitions, providing information and scheduling appointments regarding legal status and employment implications.
Coordinate with campus hiring managers and Talent Acquisition regarding H1B sponsorship needs, providing updates on new hires and their visa statuses.
Perform administrative duties, including maintaining the H1B visa filing system as per DOL guidelines, processing correspondence, managing communications, and typing documents.
Support employees with work authorizations through employment verification, travel document preparation, extension applications, and responding to USCIS requests or audits.
Collaborate with the district’s immigration attorney to ensure compliance with DOL regulations, generate reports, and monitor the permanent residence application process.
Assist HCM staff with I-9 verification and filing for employees with work authorizations.
Work with the Alternative Certification Program to monitor H1B interns.
Support the Teacher Residency Coordinator with communication and placement of Student Teachers, including registration and orientation activities.
Participate in virtual recruitment activities as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a related field.
3-5 years of relevant experience.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Problem-solving and investigative skills to respond to inquiries.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and proficiency with personal computer software.
Experience with accounting and budget operations.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills across all district levels.
Strong organizational and customer service skills to achieve position goals.
