Position Summary Portland State University, Oregon’s most affordable public research university, is committed to turning knowledge into action. The School of Business Student Success Retention & Engagement Coordinator operates out of the Undergraduate Student Services Office, coordinating all engagement initiatives for current undergraduate students enrolled in the School of Business, with a focus on supporting first‑year transfer students and improving retention outcomes.

Responsibilities

Coordinate student engagement initiatives for current undergraduate School of Business students.

Establish partnerships with faculty and staff, host events, collaborate with students, support student organizations, and provide a range of student support services.

Manage student employees at the front desk of the Undergraduate Student Services Office.

Identify and support at‑risk first‑year students, provide front‑line support and advising, and engage in proactive outreach to the first‑year cohort.

Collaborate with the broader student success team to ensure positive student success outcomes.

Support the Summer Business Institute and participate in the Undergraduate Student Success team to achieve cross‑functional goals.

Apply best practices in equity and inclusion to address institutional barriers and systemic inequities.

Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS with 1–2 years of related experience in higher education.

Experience providing coaching, counseling, mentoring, or advising to students.

Ability to work collaboratively and under limited time pressures with colleagues.

Prior experience working with students from historically under‑served communities.

Preferred Qualifications

Compensation and Benefits The starting annual salary for this position will be $57,000, but may be negotiated above this rate depending on experience and other factors. An excellent
