Together, we build tools that empower environmental action: from interactive online maps to trailhead kiosks, print brochures, and GIS-based data platforms. We’re a small but growing team looking for a tech-savvy Project Manager to help us scale effectively across a diverse range of environmental products and services. Position Overview
We are hiring a Project Manager to oversee timelines, milestones, and team workloads across the full scope of company operations, including software development, cartographic design, GIS workflows, and production for both digital and physical mapping products. This is a remote-first role with a strong preference for candidates located in, or open to relocating to, the Adirondack Park region of New York. You’ll coordinate a distributed team of developers, designers, GIS technicians, and account managers to keep projects on track, milestones met, and clients happy. This is not a software development role, but you should be comfortable managing software and mapping workflows and using modern project management tools (especially Asana). Key Responsibilities
Cross-Team Project Management Lead weekly production check-ins with internal teams Translate proposals and contracts into executable production plans in Asana Track dependencies, flag bottlenecks, and adjust timelines as needed Assign tasks based on real-time capacity and availability Monitor progress toward milestones across 10–20 concurrent projects Coordinate workloads and deliverables between designers, developers, and GIS staff Project Systems & Tools Own and manage our company-wide Asana system: templates, timelines, task assignments, due dates Maintain clean and consistent project documentation, including internal timelines and milestone reports Collaborate with team leads to ensure project visibility and accountability Help evolve and streamline our internal production systems as we grow Technical Coordination (Non-coding) Work with developers building online mapping platforms using React/Next.js, Vercel, and other modern tools Serve as internal liaison and timeline manager for our mapping software development team Support integration of tools like ArcGIS Online, Survey123, and other GIS components Coordinate with our junior GIS technician and developers to track and manage task progress Provide light support in GIS tools (training available), especially during seasonal project setup Qualifications
Preferred Skills 2–4+ years of experience in project management, ideally in a digital product, mapping, GIS, or creative production setting Experience managing timelines for design and software development projects Strong fluency in Asana (or similar tools like ClickUp, Monday.com, Trello, etc.) Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills Familiarity with GIS concepts and tools (e.g., ArcGIS Online, shapefiles, Survey123) is a plus Knowledge of software dev workflows in React/Next.js, or familiarity with coordinating developer teams, is helpful Experience with remote-first teams and cross-functional coordination A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment Why Join Us?
