**Job Description Summary:**As a Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator/Locator, you will play a vital role in the underground utility construction team by operating and managing directional drilling equipment to safely and accurately install underground utility lines, including fiber optic, electric, water, sewer, and gas. This position requires technical expertise with HDD machinery such as Vermeer or Ditch Witch, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to adapt to varying site conditions and technical challenges.**Job Description:****Locations(s) Hiring For:*** Central Texas* Waco, TX* Temple, TX* Austin, TX* Killeen, TX**Responsibilities:****Drill Operation and Locating*** Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment to drill, ream, and install utility conduits based on job specifications.* Utilize locating equipment (e.g., DigiTrak, Subsite) to track and maintain proper bore path.* Assist in bore path planning and maintain bore logs and daily reports.**Site Preparation and Utility Locating*** Read and interpret construction drawings, utility maps, and bore plans to identify job requirements.* Assist with site setup, including traffic control and identifying existing utilities.* Use proper techniques and equipment to verify underground utilities prior to drilling.**Equipment and Fluid Management*** Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections and conduct routine maintenance of HDD equipment.* Mix and monitor drilling fluids to ensure optimal performance and environmental compliance.**Execution and Adjustments*** Accurately execute planned bore paths, adjusting for ground conditions or obstacles as needed.* Collaborate with crew members to maintain continuous and efficient job progress.**Safety and Compliance*** Adhere to all OSHA safety standards and company policies, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to site protocols.* Maintain a safe and organized work environment.**Reporting and Communication*** Submit daily logs, equipment inspections, bore data, and documentation as required.* Coordinate with supervisors, locators, and ground crew to maintain effective job site communication.**Minimum Qualifications****:*** High School diploma or equivalent required.* 2 years of experience operating horizontal directional drilling equipment in utility construction or a similar field.* Experience with Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills.* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and bore plans.* Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.**Preferred Qualifications****:*** OSHA 10 certification* CDL-Class A license**Physical Requirements****:*** Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind.* Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.* Manual dexterity to operate heavy machinery, tools, and fine controls.* Visual acuity to monitor bore path equipment and interpret technical plans.* Must be able to wear and work in PPE including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and high-visibility clothing.**How We Work – TriTechne’s Core Values*** **Integrity**: We uphold the highest standards of honesty and transparency in all of our actions and communications.* **Accountability**: We commit to results and exceptional quality in our work and fully embrace accountability to our team and to our goals.* **Respect**: We foster an environment of mutual respect, support, and encouragement, recognizing the value of every individual.* **Coachability**: We are committed to growth and self-directed learning, actively seeking and openly welcoming feedback on our performance and our decision-making.* **Teamwork**: We believe in the power of collaboration, leveraging our collective strengths to surpass individual capabilities in order to achieve shared objectives.**Benefits**TriTechne offers a comprehensive benefits package to all full-time employees.
