Overview Business Development Manager

- Plainview, NY

Professional Services - A nationally recognized law firm specializing in litigation with 100s of attorneys across multiple U.S. offices.

Role The Business Development Manager combines strategic planning, client engagement, and market analysis to support the firm’s attorneys in expanding their practices and securing new clients.

Responsibilities

Client Development: Identify and pursue new client opportunities through networking, referrals, and targeted outreach. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients to ensure long-term engagement.

Market Research and Analysis: Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and potential client needs to inform business development strategies. Identify emerging markets and practice areas for growth.

Strategic Planning: Collaborate with firm leadership and practice groups to develop and implement business development plans aligned with the firm’s goals. Create targeted strategies to promote specific practice areas or services.

Proposal and Pitch Management: Lead the preparation of proposals, pitch materials, and presentations for prospective clients. Ensure all materials are tailored, compelling, and aligned with client needs.

Client Relationship Management (CRM): Maintain and update the firm’s CRM system to track client interactions, opportunities, and pipeline progress. Leverage CRM data to identify cross-selling opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management, preferably in a law firm, professional services firm, or related industry.

2+ years of management experience.

Strong understanding of the legal industry, including key practice areas and client needs.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with senior executives, attorneys, and clients.

Compensation $100k+ depending on experience
