Join to apply for the Operations Manager role at SOAR Transportation Group.
The Operations Manager is responsible for the direction and supervision of all Fleet Leaders. They must ensure on-time service while meeting all customer expectations and maximizing fleet utilization. This role will also evaluate departmental challenges and develop improvements to the operations process.
Responsibilities
Manage the load assignment process, through supervision of direct reports, to meet the customer’s expectations, empty mile targets & truck productivity objectives
Analyze load balance multiple times daily, to identify where network imbalances will exist and to resolve current imbalances
Communicate to customer service all potential and real service issues and imbalances
Monitor key reporting & send out Deadhead and Idle trailer reports
Review nightly summary from afterhours team, ensuring all issues are addressed
Respond to all driver phone calls
Establish weekly one on ones & monthly peer reviews, for accountability and transparency
Provide to direct reports position objectives & training as necessary. Share daily performance results with direct reports
Works closely with Fleet Leaders on retention (fair dispatch) policy, reduction of short miles, getting drivers home on weekends and obtaining drivers' hours to maximize utilization and comply with all safety regulations
Provides direction for dispatching local drivers within service area; monitors hours worked by local drivers so that each driver does not drive in excess of DOT allotted hours
Consults with the Senior Leadership Executives on strategic planning, operational and analysis support
Establish and implement new and/or substantially revised organizational goals, policies, procedures as it pertains to the day to day operations to adapt to the current environment
May include other duties as assigned by Management
Key Knowledge & Experience
Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a four year degree
10+ years in-depth high volume field operational experience
Superior analytical, communication and interpersonal skills; Strong problem solving and innovative thinking skills
Extreme patience dealing with volatile situations; flawless follow-up procedures
Comprehensive knowledge of regulations impacting daily operations (DOT – national and state)
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint; query and/or database application programs (Showcase or Access)
Strategic thinker with proven leadership skills
