Position Information
The Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) is seeking applications for a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral research associate. This 12-month (calendar year), 100% research, special appointment, located in Lincoln, Nebraska, will work on a USDA-NIFA-AFRI grant to explore thermodynamic factors that affect fat crystallization. The selected candidate will perform crystallization experiments that will allow us to determine how thermodynamic factors and chemical composition affect the crystallization behavior of fats. They will operate equipment in the laboratory and will be responsible for its daily operations. This might include training undergraduate and graduate students. The selected candidate will design and perform experiments and will analyze and interpret the data in collaboration with the PI. The candidate is expected to summarize the results of the research in scientific reports for the funding agency, in peer-reviewed journals, and present their findings at scientific conferences. They will also submit funding applications with private and federal agencies. In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments, reporting responsibilities, and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level. Research experience on crystallization-based research demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference participation. Experience working independently while working in a team. Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in grant submission. Experience training undergraduate and graduate students.
