Engineer I – City of Pearland Full‑time position in the Engineering and Public Works department within the Capital Projects division.

The Engineer I leads technical engineering work across a project lifecycle, from design review to construction and operation of public works and utilities projects.

Compensation & Benefits Salary: $68,268.87–$87,042.80 per year, based on experience.

The city pays all premiums for dental, long‑term disability, and life insurance, and covers the majority of the medical premium for employees and dependents.

Day in the Life of an Engineer I

Develop project charters, determine adjacent project impact, document existing problems, and handle community complaints.

Support capital improvement projects through plan review, quantity checks, specifications, bid documents, and design submittals.

Facilitate pre‑construction and pre‑bid conferences, conduct site visits, and resolve field issues.

Act as a liaison to citizens during design and construction, providing clarification and implementing solutions.

Prepare and present project updates for internal and external stakeholders.

Conduct field visits, inspect progress, resolve conflicts, and deliver CIP project presentations.

Additional Duties

Develop Capital Improvement Program scopes, budgets, and schedules.

Coordinate ROW acquisition with the ROW Acquisition Manager.

Provide project quality control and assurance through proper documentation.

Perform related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field, or equivalent training.

One (1) year engineering design or closely related experience and two (2) years project management experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses

Valid Texas Driver’s License

Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT)

Professional Engineer (PE)

Registered Architect

Local Government Project Procedures Qualification
