A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR Under general direction of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Coordinator position is responsible for overall facility maintenance, including a wide range of skills and knowledge of motors, pumps, engines, compressors, generators, valves, line repair, tools, supplies, and related machinery and structures. The coordinator should have a basic knowledge of instrumentation & communication components, PLCs, and ladder logic with a moderate knowledge of SCADA systems. The coordinator will also be charged with coordinating maintenance staff on restoration and optimization projects, assigning work orders, and managing the preventative maintenance program using City Works software.
Essential Functions
Assists and participates in the development and administration of the Division's annual budget.
Develops, reviews, and updates standard operating procedures for maintenance and equipment, safety, and emergency conditions to ensure proper and safe operation of facilities.
Prioritizes equipment repairs; inspects, operates, and maintains calibration and preventative maintenance scheduled for a variety of equipment; makes operating adjustments as needed.
Conducts formal performance appraisals; participates in a variety of personnel actions including hiring, counseling, training, promotion, discipline, and termination.
Maintains and implements a preventative maintenance program via City Works; schedules repair and service of plant operations machinery and equipment including pumps, valves, motors, meters, tanks, and reservoirs.
Coordinates with outside contractors, engineers, and vendors on maintenance projects.
Additional Duties
Present monthly safety meetings.
Assist with plans for capital improvement projects.
Maintain plant equipment and facilitate outside contractors as needed.
Order tool, supplies, and equipment as necessary.
Establish and maintain a record‑keeping system which allows inventories to be kept at optimum levels, including cost tracking.
Maintain an inventory of emergency repair parts to limit downtime.
Assist in preparation of plans and specifications for additions or modifications to plant structures or equipment.
Participate in continuing education activities; attend meetings, workshops and seminars as appropriate.
Perform related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training experience in the water industry or related field.
Two (2) years of experience in pump and motor repair or closely related experience.
Preferences
Five (5) years of experience in pump and motor repair or closely related experience.
Two (2) years of experience with a CMMS; City Works experience is preferred.
One (1) year experience with SCADA systems and I&C exposure.
Two (2) years of experience working in/with water or wastewater utilities; an active C license in a discipline is preferred.
Desired experience includes electrical or facilities maintenance certifications.
Experience with membrane filters and SBRs is preferred.
