AECOM is seeking a
Senior Coastal Engineer
to join our Water Business Line in
Oakland, California . This strategic role offers an opportunity to lead and deliver complex coastal engineering projects in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You’ll work with senior engineers, scientists, and project managers to shape resilient coastal infrastructure, contribute to climate adaptation strategies, and drive innovation in technical delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a
technical leader
in the planning, design, and rehabilitation of coastal structures including seawalls, revetments, groins, and nature-based (living shoreline) solutions.
Conduct
resiliency and vulnerability assessments
for infrastructure exposed to flooding, sea level rise, and coastal storm impacts.
Perform
advanced wave modeling and statistical analyses
(including spectral and wind-wave calculations) to inform project design and risk mitigation.
Oversee development of technical tools, workflows, and standardized processes to enhance project efficiency and quality control.
Lead preparation of
technical deliverables , including engineering reports, cost estimates, regulatory permits, and specifications for infrastructure projects.
Coordinate and manage coastal data collection and survey campaigns, and integrate findings into project designs.
Mentor, supervise, and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level coastal engineers, and contribute to talent development within the Water group.
Support client and stakeholder engagement and contribute to proposal development and project pursuits.
Support identification and pursuit of key project opportunities for coastal engineering across the Pacific Coast and throughout the broader Pacific Region.
