Mechanical HVAC Engineer
IPD Engineering (Represented by Luxus Group Recruiting) is seeking a mid-level to senior level HVAC Engineer for a full-time hybrid position in Syracuse, NY.
Position Overview The HVAC Engineer will serve as a lead designer and project contributor from concept through construction administration. Responsibilities include performing design calculations, developing construction documents, mentoring junior staff, and coordinating with architects, clients, and contractors. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on mechanical design expert who brings technical precision, leadership ability, and a passion for delivering sustainable, high‑performance building systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead HVAC design for diverse commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
Draft HVAC construction drawings, including details, plans, and sections per firm standards.
Perform HVAC load and energy calculations to optimize system performance.
Select HVAC systems and equipment, ensuring energy efficiency and compliance.
Develop and review construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit.
Coordinate with other disciplines (electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural).
Ensure code compliance and adherence to client commitments and project requirements.
Manage project documentation flow throughout the lifecycle to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Administer projects during construction, addressing RFIs, shop drawings, and field issues.
Conduct design reviews and implement sustainable and energy‑efficient strategies.
Maintain positive client relationships and represent IPD Engineering with professionalism.
Mentor and support junior engineers in design and technical development.
Participate in business development by showcasing the firm’s mechanical engineering capabilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC Design Certification required.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
7–10 years of experience in HVAC design within a consulting engineering firm.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
Thorough understanding of mechanical codes, energy standards, and building systems.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
Client‑facing experience and a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $88,000 – $165,000 annually (DOE)
Total Compensation: $100,000 – $180,000+ (including bonuses and benefits)
