Description Summary
This position is primarily responsible for troubleshooting and repairing electrical circuits, power distribution, furnace instrumentation and controls, mechanical and hydraulic equipment, machine tools, saws, forging and heat treat furnace equipment, closed die forging presses, manipulators, and CNC machine mechanical issues with minimal supervision. Additionally, this role involves installing upgrades, performing preventative and corrective maintenance to enhance operational uptime and equipment lifespan.
The Maintenance Mechanic will perform maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement tasks on various plant equipment with limited guidance, supporting manufacturing operations in a cooperative manner. The role requires troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly, and completing machine repairs and rebuilds safely, professionally, and according to documentation.
Qualified candidates should have experience maintaining and troubleshooting heavy forging presses, manipulators, furnace combustion components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and related components such as pumps, compressors, valves, heat exchangers, filters, and cooling towers. Basic electrical knowledge for working safely with industrial equipment is essential.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Electrician License and Hydraulic/Pneumatic/Millwright certifications are desirable
Extensive experience in electrical power distribution, forge equipment electrical and control troubleshooting, and forge facility maintenance
Experience in CNC machine repair is a plus
Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, CNC troubleshooting skills
At least 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of safe working practices
Ability to read mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic schematics and drawings
Experience with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Control Logix, RSView), Fanuc controls, ladder logic, and Celos (Mori Seiki)
Proficiency in writing reports and understanding service manuals
Experience with CMMS/E-Maint systems and Microsoft Office
Mechanical skills including fitting bearings, aligning gears and shafts, attaching motors, and making adjustments
Ability to perform predictive and operational maintenance
Experience servicing hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Basic welding and fabrication skills
Ability to foresee spare parts needs and work with maintenance planners
Knowledge of industry regulations and safe work practices
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair presses, manipulators, machine tools, saws, and other plant equipment safely and efficiently
Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and CNC repairs
Operate in response to maintenance requests and set priorities to maximize uptime
Maintain tools and diagnostic equipment
Use diagnostic tools and measurement devices to identify and resolve issues
Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance programs, suggesting improvements as needed
Follow work instructions, update drawings, and perform machine repairs and rebuilds professionally
Comply with governmental regulations and laws related to powered equipment
Document maintenance work using CMMS/EMaint and MS Office systems
Prepare and verify inventory reports periodically
