This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team committed to the mission: “Parks Make Life Better.” The Parks Facilities Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Parks Operations Superintendent and is a key member of the Parks Operations Division. This working supervisor role develops, establishes, implements, and oversees the department’s maintenance and repair programs for parks, trails and open spaces, including routine, preventative, and deferred maintenance for current and future sites. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service and communication skills, work well in a team and independently, and be proficient in performing maintenance and repair across multiple trades at a journey-level. Experience with computerized work order systems and strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are also desired. Responsibilities

Assigns and performs complex and highly skilled maintenance and repair activities across electrical, carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, spray ground/pool maintenance, HVAC, and access control solutions. Evaluate, supervise, and perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repair needs of City Park facilities, buildings, pools, spray grounds, wells, and related park infrastructure. Assist the Parks Operations Superintendent to implement goals, objectives, policies, and priorities. Manage budget administration, procurement, contracts, and the preparation of operational procedures. Assist in preparing and monitoring the division budget, contracts, cost estimates, and procurement of supplies, materials, and equipment. Assist with the management and use of electronic maintenance management systems and other City software platforms. Prepare reports and time/material cost estimates for work requests. Respond to inquiries and complaints. Supervise staff, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, training, professional development, and performance evaluation. Monitor and inspect the work of contractors and vendors, resolve issues, and determine additional needs. Evaluate operational effectiveness and coordinate, assign, and review work of subordinate personnel. Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools. Read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Provide assistance to other City departments as needed and collaborate with outside groups, organizations, and agencies. Provide overall division supervision in the absence of the Parks Operations Superintendent. Assign and perform other related duties as directed. Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and skill. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certificates and licenses for applicable trade work from an accredited college, university, or licensing board are desired. Experience: Five (5) years of experience in a facilities maintenance related field; electrical, plumbing, or HVAC servicing, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead role. Licenses and Certifications:

A valid California driver’s license at date of hire. Possession and maintenance of a valid Class A California Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one within twelve (12) months of hire. Certificates and licenses for applicable trade work are desired. Possession and maintenance of a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or the ability to obtain one within twelve (12) months of hire. Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Working Conditions:

Travel between sites; work at elevations on platforms or ladders; exposure to low and medium voltages, hydraulic and chemical systems; may require varying shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays; may be subject to 24-hour response for emergencies. Physical Demands:

Mobility to operate in city parks, buildings, and facilities; ability to perform medium to heavy physical work; vision, hearing, and communication requirements for in-person and remote interactions; ability to read, enter, and retrieve data; ability to lift up to 50 pounds with proper equipment. Environmental Elements:

Exposure to confined spaces, dust, noise, inclement weather, chemicals, electrical and mechanical hazards; interaction with staff, the public, and contractors as needed. Veterans’ Preference
